Tamara Nakhjavani
Associate Attorney
Tamara K. Nakhjavani is a business transactional, intellectual property, and employment law attorney at De La Housaye & Associates. She handles the firm’s complicated transactional and employment law cases requiring advanced study and analysis. Tamara's background includes the areas of patent, trademark, and copyright law as well as complex high technology matters.
Tamara was born and grew up in Tehran, Iran. She moved to the United States in 1991, at the age of sixteen, where she attended Monmouth Regional High School (Tinton Falls, New Jersey) and graduated in the top 5% of her class with honors. She subsequently attended Seton Hall University (South Orange, New Jersey) graduating with a B.S. in biology with honors. In addition, she participated and obtained the humanities honors program certificate of Seton Hall University.
Subsequent to graduating from College, Tamara worked at the Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (South Orange, New Jersey) assisting Doctor Carol Lutz in research concentrated in the area of Lupus. She then attended New York College of Osteopathic Medicine (Old Westbury, New York) for one year when she decided to withdraw voluntarily and move to California to pursue other avenues. While in White Plains, New York, Tamara received free legal assistance from the Women's Justice Center. She was inspired by the unlimited and gracious assistance from the center and thus decided to pursue a career in law where she could help others and make a difference.
Upon arriving in California, she worked in various biotechnology corporations such as Coulter Pharmaceutical (South San Francisco, California) and Protein Design Labs (Fremont, California). She attended Santa Clara University School of Law (Santa Clara, California) from 2001 through 2005 while working full time in law firms such as Scher and Bassett (Sunnyvale, California) and Day, Casebeer, Madrid, and Batchelder LLP (Cupertino, California). She then worked for Day Casebeer managing a team of attorneys in a high profile patent litigation case where she successfully brought her portion of the project to completion. Thereupon she accepted a position as a law clerk in De La Housaye & Associates where she contributed on both transactional and litigation matters. Tamara left De La Housaye & Associates to advance her intellectual property expertise by working at high technology companies such as Cataphora and Autodesk. In June of 2008, Tamara returned to De La Housaye & Associates as the San Francisco Office's Business Transactional Counsel.
Tamara lives in San Francisco with her husband where she enjoys hiking, biking, flamenco dancing, learning languages, photography, traveling, and exploring different cultures. She speaks Farsi fluently.
